As you may or may not be aware, I am a committee memebr at Stanton Fishing Club and run and maintain both their website and their FaceBook page… Well, earlier this year, at the beginning of April the club netted the top section of the Nutbrook Canal in order to see what fish were in there and move certain species into Roughs Pond.
Well… what can I say, I have become a committee member for Stanton Fishing Club, a club I fished as a youngster. I feel very honored to have been nominated and appointed to the committee as the club holds some great memories of years gone by.
So the first day of the new year, I couldn’t wait to get out there fishing. It was a pretty crappy day to be honest, gale force winds, rain and bitterly cold wind chill, you would have to be a bit mental to consider fishing in these conditions. Matt Bailey was supposed to be coming with me to take part in another “Paul Bailey Challenge” but he had the right idea and stayed home. I took my 8 year old son Tom instead.
There are very few fishing clubs around Ilkeston, but Stanton Fishing Club has been one of the longest established and has a high number of members.
The club is ran by a committee who make decisions on behalf of the club members regarding the running of the club and matters to do with club membership and club waters.
