Happy New Year! 2015 is here and I have been out fishing on the first day of the new year. Unlike this time last year I caught a fish I’m glad to say.
Thomas has really been enjoying his Perch fishing recently, hes have a great session over the last couple of days with some great fish caught. These were caught mainly on maggot and worm under the bridge at Potters Lock on the Erewash Canal in Ilkeston.
I’ve been itching to get out fishing, and been wanting to take Tom again for a long time. This morning was absolutely aweful, heavy rain and thunderstorms I seriously didn’t think we could have got out today. By 10:30am the rain had slowed up, so I went over to our local tackle shop and bought half a pint of red maggots. We were going to get out after dinner all being well.
Here is another short video of me lure fishing on the Erewash Canal in Ilkeston. I live close to the canal and its only a short walk down of an evening. I like to walk along the canal covering a lot of water.
Once again I have caught something rather unusual whilst out lure fishing. I was bored this morning whilst Nikki had gone for a walk with Jack (our new baby boy) in his pram, so I decided to have a walk down to the Erewash canal (it is at the bottom of my street).
I have been thinking of ways to keep Tom interested whilst out fishing, he keeps saying he wants to go but his attention span is really short at the moment, I put it down to his age. This week I thought I should try Pike / Perch fishing with a spinner rod and reel in the local Erewash Canal which happens to be at the bottom of my street.
